DRIVERS BEWARE !!

A little driving note: when water is over the road DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE THRU IT !!!!

This is approximately 12 hours AFTER D'Nae got stuck in the bar ditch and the water receded. She was driving and the water was over the road and when she hit the mud that had washed over the road she lost control and the water current pushed her to the left and into the bar ditch. Thankfully D'Nae was okay and was not hurt. She had to be rescued by an EMS person who was checking his fields when he heard the call come over the radio and wasn't that far away from her. After they got her out of the truck they closed this highway because of all the water that was over the road.

On a happier note: Mike came home Saturday night while we were at the birthday party. He will be home for 2 to 3 weeks then he has to go back to Oklahoma...but in the time that he is here we are planning a trip to Ruidoso on July 3rd thru July 6th. I can't wait !! We just LOVE Ruidoso !! Mom, Dad, LaShae, Granny, PaPa and the 5 of us are all going. We rented a cabin and Rhaeden is hoping he and Pop can go fishing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COOPER !!

My nephew, Cooper Boyd Bland, turned 1 year old on Wednesday the 18th. We celebrated his birthday Saturday at his house. Jeremy cooked hamburgers and Toni baked his cake. We had a lot of fun and Cooper is getting sooo big !!! He is walking a few steps then gets to laughing and falls down...it is really cute. He loves to call his dog "CoCo." He will be playing and all of a sudden he just says "CoooooCooooo" all drawn out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COOPER !!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAEGEN !!!

Well, today Maegen is 6 years old !!! It's hard to believe that she will be a first grader next year. She is still the comedian of the family. You just never know what that child is going to say, but a lot of the time you will end up laughing !!!

D'Nae, Rhaeden, Maegen, and I met Stacy, Kayla, and Karl at the movies Saturday afternoon and watched Kung Fu Panda (a must see movie) for Maegen's birthday. After the movie I had a little surprise for her. LaShae was moving into her house in Lubbock so we dropped by to see her new house and Granny, PaPa, NaNa, Pops, LaShae and Quilla were all there with a Princess Cake, Balloons and of course presents. I think she was a little surprised !!

After all the fun at LaShae's we went to the Hospital to see Ruby (Mike's Grandmother) and took her some cupcakes and a couple of birthday balloons to brighten up her room. I think she was a little bit surprised herself.
Oh Yeah !! My MOST memorable moment of the day: After we left the hospital we were all a little hungry...so spaghetti and pizza was on the menu...Olive Garden here we come !!!! While we were eating Maegen just kept complaining about her loose tooth. Rhaeden, D'Nae and I were tired of hearing about it so D'Nae tells her to "pull it" which by the way is NOT my favorite thing..It's pretty nasty !! I have NOT pulled NOT ONE of my children's teeth !!! I just do NOT do that sort of thing...so D'Nae and Maegen head to the bathroom and a few minutes later here they come and the loose tooth is now in my pocket wrapped in a paper towel...Just what you want when you are EATING SUPPER !!!!

Mike is in Oklahoma working and he couldn't be with us for Father's Day or her birthday. He had to spend both alone. Maybe when he gets home (hopefully this weekend) for a day or two we can take him out to celebrate.

D'Nae, LaShae and Pop Having fun with Maegen's Birthday presents !!!!

Modeling is so much fun !!!

I Don't know if you can read her middle shirt but it says: "Can I recycle my Brother?" A gift that LaShae and D'Nae absolutely LOVED !!!! Rhaeden wasn't very fond of it...go figure !!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCESS MAEGEN !!!
WE LOVE YOU THE MOSTEST !!!

"Major the Miracle Child"

My Accountant's (and dear friend) 2 year old grandson, Major, is in need of a kidney transplant.
They have received word that the transplant will occur on July 7, 2008 in California. COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association) has set up an account to help defray costs and help the family in this time. Here is a link to his webpage so that you can read more about his situation http://www.cotaformajork.com/. I have also included a link to the side for easy access to follow his progress.
Major at 1 week old

Major at 2 years old

Major has defied all odds and is truly a "Miracle Child." He was recently the Children's Miracle Network Child for the Austin Area.

Not only do the parents, Karroll and Stephanie, have Major to deal with they have two daughters as well: Taylor who is 7 and Sydney who is 5. Taylor and Sydney will have to be separated from their Mom, Dad, and Brother while they are out in California with the transplant.

Major, has struggled to fight health problems since he was born in 2006. He was never expected to live beyond a few days. However, he beat the odds and has now become known as "Major, the Miracle Child." In a few weeks, Karroll, Stephanie, and Major are moving to California for several months. On July 7, Major's dad, Karroll, will donate one of his own kidneys to Major in hopes of giving his son a chance for a more normal life. They are currently working with a wonderful organization called the Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) to raise money to help with transplant-related expenses. If you would like to read more about Major or donate to his fund, please visit his website at http://www.cotaformajork.com/. The site will be updated periodically to let you know how Major is doing pre-transplant and post-transplant.

Once you have read his story and seen his picture, you can't help but fall in love with him! Please share his story with all your friends and family.

Update for week

Well, the first "offiicial" week of Summer is just about over.

D'Nae played in two more games on Tuesday and beat a team that is in our district and then played a 2-A team and lost by three. Last night they played Post (2-A) and beat both their Varsity and Jr. Varsity !!! I am really pleased with the way they played this week. On top of playing 6 basketball games at night she has also worked all week at Higginbotham redoing their price tags. So this morning I left her asleep !!!

The last two days have been extremely WINDY, HOT, and DIRTY !!! but...nonetheless, we played a baseball game in 40 mph winds and blowing dirt !!! We ended up at a tie and given the conditions they were playing in...I'm glad that niether team had to take a loss. Rhaeden hit the ball both times he came up to the plate and scored once. He played 1st base and 3rd base last night.

Rhaeden and Maegen have gone this morning to Lubbock to go roller skating with the local Summer Rec program. I gave the money to Rhaeden for the both of them because Maegen didn't have any pockets. Hopefully big brother will let her buy a snack/drink when she wants one instead of spending it all on video games !!! We CAN HOPE !!!!

FIRST WEEK OF SUMMER

LaShae, D'Nae and I went Friday night to see Jeff Dunham, the Ventriliquist, in Lubbock. He is soooo hilarious. If you get a chance to see him on Comedy Central or in person you really need to watch him. Walter, Peanut, Bubba J, Jose Jalepeno on a steek, Sweet Daddy Dee, Melvin, and of course Achmed the dead terrorist are his puppets. You can even watch him on You Tube. He is just amazingly funny !!!

D'Nae played in two basketball games last night, has two more tonight and two more on Thursday night. I didn't get to go last night because Rhaeden had a baseball game but I am taking D'Nae and two other girls tonight. They played two really good games last night against two 3A teams, as some of you know we are just a 6-man 1A school, so I was extremely pleased.

Rhaeden lost another heart breaker last night. They were tied after 5 innings and in the 6th inning the other team scored 4 runs so we had to score 4 to tie or 5 to win. We came up a little short in that we scored only 2...but...Rhaeden hit a homerun and scored the only 2 runs in the inning...so it ended on a good note for us personally...just not the outcome for the team that we would have liked.

Maegen went to daycare yesterday and played with some friends that she hadn't seen since last summer. She had a blast !!! But, she was just a little tooo tired this morning to go back so she went to Granny and PaPa's to rest today before we head to the basketball game. Also, last night at the baseball game she was in the Press Box and fell down the stairs. She scraped her back and arm up pretty good but she is tough and after a few wet paper towels she was fine.
