STOCKSHOW 2010

Well...another stockshow has come and gone. This time it won't come around again for D'Nae. This was her LAST County stockshow. A little bitter sweet in my opinion. This is NOT what she enjoys..according to her...the ONLY reason she participates is because I MAKE HER !! Anyway..we had a very good stockshow. D'Nae was 1st, Breed Champion, and Grand Champion. Rhaeden was 2nd (behind D'Nae), Reserve Breed Champion, and Reserve Champion. Maegen got to show in the Pee Wee Goat Show. We borrowed a goat and she got her trophy. Overall...a VERY GOOD YEAR !!!

NIGHT IN ER

Well...Tuesday night D'Nae injured her left shoulder AGAIN in the basketball game. She said it didn't feel the same as when she injured it three years ago. She kept saying it felt like bone. She couldn't move it at all...NONE...and a "knot" was forming on her collar bone. The EMT's and Paramedic decided that she needed to be taken to the Emergency Room to have it X-Rayed. Since there was only one Paramedic in the County that night and she was stable, other than in excruciating pain, I drove her to Lubbock instead of them taking her by ambulance. Mom drove D'Nae's pick-up to the house and I dropped off Rhaeden and Maegen so they could get homework, baths, and then off to bed as much to their normal time as could be. Mom rode with us and when we arrived at the ER we didn't have to wait long at all. We had X-Rays and there was no broken bones and no obvious dislocation of the shoulder. They gave her some pain medicine and an immobilizer and sent us home. She is to wear the immobilizer or the sling they gave (I bought) us for one week and NO BASKETBALL !!! She informed the Dr. that District basketball started Friday and she was going to play. He said "NO you're not !!" Nicely, of course. He even put in the paperwork that she has to be released by a Dr. BEFORE she can play.

She had a note to stay home from school yesterday, but she didn't want to stay at home and about 11am went to school. She was still hurting and by the time she got home last night, the first thing she did was take a pain pill. She called before she left Gail and I could just tell in her voice that she wasn't doing well at all. She said she took some ibuprofen before she left to get her home and it did NOTHING for the pain. She ate supper, took a slow difficult shower (one handed) and went straight to bed. She made the comment that it hurt just to sit on the couch and watch tv. Not even moving it and it still hurt.

This morning, she went to school at the normal time. She was moving the lower part of her arm from the elbow towards the hand pretty easily...but...the shoulder NOT SO MUCH. She could move it about 3 inches out from her body which is a GREAT improvement but not across her body AT ALL !! She took her pain pills with her and we will see how she manages today at school.
