HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Happy Thanksgiving to all !!!

The kids got out of school yesterday..so today D'Nae is going to work, Maegen went to daycare, and Rhaeden is currently here with me at work because I have to take him to Lubbock to the Dr. in about an hour.

D'Nae played basketball Monday night against Whitharral and they won 54-33. They played Ira last night and won 73-27. That brings the girls overall record to 6-0..pretty good start if you ask me. D'Nae didn't play much the second half last night. She was complaining about being dizzy. After the game her head was real stuffy. Hopefully it is just allergies and a shot will clear it right up. When I left the house this morning I told her to call the Dr. office and see if they couldn't get her worked in sometime today to get a shot. With everything going on she doesn't have time to be sick. I have to be in Lubbock with Rhaeden..so she is just going to have to make the appointment and go by herself..she is growing up ya know and VERY independent !!

Monday D'Nae's game was in Gail so I went over early to watch Maegen in gymnastics (I don't get to see her very often.) I actually took a few pictures but I didn't bring my camera with me this morning so I will have to post those pics later. She is really improving and I think even liking it better. I brought my camera back this afternoon !!

Lastly...today is my 40th birthday !! I normally write about how loving my children are and funny things about them for their birthday...but it's hard to write about yourself so I am just going to embarrass myself and post a few pictures when I was younger !!!

Also...today is my neice, Kadie, birthday. She is 21 today !!! YEAH !! She will be home tomorrow for Thanksgiving and I will get to wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY in person. I have been posting to her myspace account and counting down the days for her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KADIE !!!

Quick Update: Rhaeden has to go back to the Dr. in three weeks. The Dr. believes it is just allergies (although that same Dr. has tested him twice and he hasn't tested positive yet) but anyway put him on allergy medicine. The next step if his ears are not cleared up where he can hear they will put tubes in again !! For the third time !!!

D'Nae congestion is due to allergies (we all knew that) so she got a shot in the rear !!! She also got a prescription. The pharmacy is going to LOVE me this afternoon when I go pick up three prescriptions !!

Just a side note...have you noticed how everything comes in 3's?? 3 weeks, 3 prescriptions, 3 sets of tubes, and 3 kids ??? Do you see a pattern here ?? ha ha
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY !!!

November football !!

Well...the boys won again !!! YIPEE !!! They are now the Regional Champs and will play Sierra Blanca in the Quarterfinals this Saturday the 29th at 3pm in Pecos. Borden County is ranked # 2 and Sierra Blanca is ranked # 4 in the state in Divison II. It should be a nail biter and tough game. Not the mention the L-O-N-G drive !!! Good thing I have Pop (thanks dad) to drive !! ha ha

D'Nae played basketball on Saturday against a very young O'Donnell team and won 78-19. O'Donnell graduated their whole varsity team last year so they are all young and inexperienced. D'Nae did end up with 4 fouls in the game !!! But...on her behalf she didn't get the 5th one (she also didn't play the 4th qtr)...ha ha...but she didn't foul out. That is two games now that she has been on the brink but has held her composure and stuck it out. Tonight the girls play Whitharral at Gail then we travel tomorrow to play Ira.

On a side note..I am on the board at the Daycare Center here and we have just installed a new playground this weekend. I called this morning and the kids couldn't wait for it to warm up so that they could get out there and play on it. I am super excited about it and for the kids to finally have something to play on. Here are before and after pics so that you can see why I am sooo happy for the kids.

Rhaeden and Grandad

Last week Rhaeden and I were in the car on the way home and I would ask him a question and he would say "huh ?" I would repeat myself and then get my answer. After doing this three times I asked him if he could hear me. The next day I e-mailed his teacher and a cc: to the school nurse to see if she had noticed a change in his hearing. She asked Rhaeden "Can you hear me ?" and Rhaeden said, "huh ?" The teacher moved him closer to her and sent him to the nurse to get his hearing checked and he failed his hearing test. The nurse had done a hearing test on him on October 1st and they were fine, but last Thursday they were not. So yesterday I take Rhaeden to the Audiologist to get a more thorough test ran. The technician told me that Negative Ear pressures shouldn't be below -150, Rhaeden's left ear was at -199 and his right ear was at -300. So he currently has some hearing loss. She described it more as hearing under water. The good news is that his nerves to the ear drum are working great. The technician suggested that we go back to the ENT especially since it is getting into the Winter months. I looked back and he had his first set of tubes put in on November 13th. The second set was in later part of Octber or early part of November because I remember going to a football game the night he had them put in because D'Nae was cheering in Highland. So, I, not of the medical profession, have determined that November is NOT a good month for Rhaeden's ears.

Grandad was taken to the ER in Vernon last night and after an EKG, blood work, four nitro pills and morphine he was airlifted to Wichita Falls. He spent the night in pain. They currently have him on a Nitro drip and are working him in for an angiogram. He is still in pain and they feel like something else is going on. Just got a call from mom: Grandad's dr., Dr. Samuelson, said he definately had a heart attack. They do not know the extent or the damage yet and gave him two options: 1) Get over this one and go home or 2) Perform a Cardiac Cath (angiogram) to see how much damage has been done and go from there. Grandad told the Dr. that he was in the Dr.'s hands and to do what he thought was necessary. Dr. Samuelson said going home would NOT be a good choice. Mom informed me that they had already signed the paper work to do the Cath so Dr. Samuelson had ordered it before talking to Grandad. Dr. Samuleson does not perfom Cardiac Cath's so he has recommended Dr. Desiree (sp). Dr. Desiree is the Dr. that performed Albert's surgery and is an excellent surgeon. Mom said Grandad was still NOT comfortable and they had increased the Nitro drip 3 times with no relief so they have ordered more morphine. The Cath will be performed sometime today. They are waiting on Dr. Desiree now.

Basketball vs New Home

The girls won the basketball game last night 59 to 39 against New Home. The score may not show it but it was a nail biter !! We had four starters with 4 fouls each and only seven players suited up. The bench was looking quite lonely !!! We had three starters with 3 fouls each in the first half. D'Nae picked up her third foul with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter. She couldn't come out of the game so she had to play extremely smart ball the rest of the half. They came out in the 3rd quarter and one of the girls picked up her 4th foul within just a few minutes and had to sit until about 4 minutes left in the game. Another girl picked up her 4th foul with 5 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. D'Nae picked up her 4th foul in the 4th quarter. Another girl picked up her 3rd foul in the 3rd quarter and then her 4th foul in the 4th quarter. At one point in the first half we were wondering if we were going to have enough girls to even finish playing the game or if all of them were going to foul out. The fouls the first half were a little "one-sided." I think in the first quarter or early in the second quarter they were shooting free throws in the double bonus and they only had like 3 fouls and we were over ten fouls !! They could make their free throws too !!! Not good to keep putting them on the line to shoot "give-me" shots with no time being ran off of the clock. We needed the clock to RUN !!!

The girls played extremely well defensively and that's what kept the momentum in our favor. I am so proud of the girls for not giving up and getting discouraged when everything was going against them. They showed a lot of heart and will to win !! I am very proud of each and everyone of them !!

KEEP IT UP !!!

Soo Much to Blog About !!

Okay....Better get your popcorn..I have sooo much to blog about. I am so behind on the happenings that have been going on...buckle down and get ready:

First of all..CONGRATULATIONS to the Bi-District Champions...The Borden County Coyotes !!! Yeah !!!! Just to let you all know...IT WAS COLD !!!! We have had really nice weather until this past Friday....I think all I have worn so far was just a little pull-over but not this week. I had a pull-over, a jacket, and two blankets. I guess it was still "nice" weather...no precipitation...but it was COLD !! We will now play Sanderson in Wink Friday night @ 6:30 pm. Another LONG road trip !!

Okay..I am going to back track a little now. On November 8th the annual Fall Festival was held at the school. The Fall Festival helps each grade earn money for their Senior Trip. The Parents Club always has bingo with terrific prizes, this year was no exception, and that money goes towards Scholarships. The First graders (Maegen) had a football toss and a longhorn ride (will post a picture later). The Fifth graders (Rhaeden) had a roping dummy and auctioned off an autographed football from the 2008 District Champion Borden County Coyotes. The Juniors (D'Nae) had a haunted house and a Sweet Shop. I had to make 5 deserts for the sweet shop. Here are a couple of pics from the creepy haunted house workers while they were getting into costume: BOO !!!

Last Tuesday Basketball officially started. Although they had played two scrimmages with three teams and won them all...the games have begun. The girls won their first game of the season with a win over Meadow 66-39. Then, because of the Bi-District Football game on Friday night, the girls played their next game on Saturday against Westbrook. For the last two years Westbrook has been in our District and with the new alignment they are no longer District rivalries. There have been some really tough and hard fought close games. So we were expecting nothing less. The girls came out ready to play and Westbrook just didn't have the game that they normally have. The girls won the game 64-36.

Mike has been baling hay at night and early in the morning...Guess who gets to "take" him and "pick" him up when he needs a ride back to his pick-up ?? You guessed it...ME !!! Anyone have hay to be baled ?

Rhaeden at the moment is not doing anything "extra-curricular." I believe he is doing two UIL events this week so hopefully he will do good !! Go Rhaeden !!

Have I bored you to tears yet ? Well, I still have one more child (hint the reference to my husband) that I have not talked about and that would be Maegen. Again this year the Jr. High cheerleaders held a "mini cheer camp" and the little kids were allowed to perform during the pep rally that day and again at halftime of the Junior High Football game. Just a little background..I was called to school to pick Maegen up because she had vomitted twice that morning. I went to get her and she looked sick !! She was pale and you could tell she just didn't feel good. About 10 miles out of town, she sits up and just starts talking my ear off. We get back to town and she is hungry so I go to McDonald's and get a chicken nugget kids meal (this will definately tell me if she is really sick). Guess What ? She ate every bit of it and did not get sick. So that afternoon I took her to Granny and PaPa's and she ate everything in sight !! She was NOT sick..I think she was just nervous because she really didn't know all of her routines. So, I took her back to Gail that night for her performace. Here is a short video of the halftime performance:

I will try to do a little better about the blogging. In my defense...I have A LOT of happenings to attend and try to remember !!

VETERANS DAY !!

Veterans Day is a day to reflect, remember, and HONOR those men, women, children, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters and friends who serve the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !! They serve and sacrifice so that we, the people, have the freedoms that we have. It is truly a gift and an honor to have military personnel in my family. I am thankful for the sacrifices that the Veteran and his family make. The FREEDOMS we have would not be possible without the life of a Veteran. Take the time to give a big THANK YOU to a Veteran. THANK them everyday of the year not just on Veterans Day. They do not serve just one day a year they serve 365 days a year 24 hours a day !! Here is a poem for the Veterans:

MAY GOD BE WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU !!

GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!

District Champs And VOTING !!!

YEAH !! Borden County is the District Champs in football for 2008 with an undefeated record of 9-0!!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!! This is the "bye" week so the team is "off" this week and will start play-offs next week against either Loop or Klondike !! GO COYOTES !!!

D'Nae had her first basketball scrimmage Saturday afternoon against O'Donnell. The girls looked pretty good. There were a few plays that didn't look like they were ran correctly but that is what scrimmages are for right ?? To let the girls (and the Coach) see what needs to be worked on before the games actually start. Another scrimmage is set for tonight beginning at 4pm against Loraine and Roscoe.

Today is NOVEMBER 4th !! ELECTION Day !!! I am asking everyone who reads this to get out and vote !! Exercise your RIGHT to vote !!! Our ancestors (and military past and present) fought for our freedom and our right to live in a democracy !! Do not dissapoint...do not let them down...do not let yourself or your family down !! GO VOTE !!!

IF YOU DON'T VOTE...

YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN !!
