DEER IN THE HIGHWAY

If you are a driver I'm sure you have had to dodge, slow down, or have seen deer in the road. It is amazing what damage can be done to your vehicle. Also, if you have ever driven the Gail Highway from Post to Gail it is nothing unusual to see 20 to 30 deer on any given day. It is a parent's nightmare that you receive a call that your child (ren) has been in an accident (so far I have had two of these such phone calls) neither one any worse or better than the other. Well, on Monday morning I receive the second of such phone calls from D'Nae telling me they have hit a "deer". I immediately go into panic mode..Is everyone ok ? Do I need to come get you ? All the parent questions in stress mode. NO..NO..Everyone is fine. The truck is fine. They are going on to school. They looked at it when they stopped and got gas. Ya See, they weren't even on the Gail highway. They were on the Tahoka highway headed to town to get gas.

Ok..time to relax. When D'Nae gets home Monday night I go look at the damage. VERY LITTLE ??? Ok..how can you HIT a "deer" (I'm sure going 70 mph that NOBODY saw) and look back and see it laying in the road and the only damage that has been done is on the lower part of the bumper. It took 1/2 the black plastic that hangs below the bumper off and about 1/4 of the bumper. The part that holds the fog lights and the license plate. That's it. The hood isn't damaged. The headlights not damaged. NOTHING else. The only thing that Mike and I can determine is that the "deer" was already dead and they ran over it. So, I go looking for her license plate...I found it and the "deer" !! Check out the "deer" below:

Now...That is just one HUGE GIGANTIC "DEER" !! My children don't know the difference in a COYOTE and a deer....and the school mascot is the Borden County COYOTES !!! This now explains the damage done to the truck a little bit better and makes a WHOLE lot more sense.

So..this morning I give a little lecture about watching where you are going. Don't be messing with the radio. Stay focused. Watch for real DEER.. and of course D'Nae says "and coyotes"

Just thankful and grateful that none of them were hurt and everyone is ok. Nothing that can't be fixed or replaced.

BEWARE OF "DEER" IN THE HIGHWAY !!!

MORE GOING ON THAT I CAN RECORD

How is everyone ? Well I hope. Ya see that darn Piggy Flu has been wreaking havoc at my house and I am ready for it to go to someone else's house !!! GET OUT OF MINE !!! I was out all last week with it then on Sunday the girls came down with it. Luckily the Men haven't gotten it (maybe they are too honory) ha ha anyway, I hope they don't get it !!! It is my understanding that once you get it, the likelihood that you will get it again is slim because you develop anti-bodies for it...I hope this is the case. I do NOT want it again !!!

I missed Rhaeden's birthday because I was sick and trying to avoid everyone so they didn't get it. Luckily, Mike and Mom threw a cake, some presents, and supper together so that he wasn't totally neglected on his birthday. Rhaeden is now 12 years old !! Can you believe it ? WOW !! 12 years old and a 6th grader. He is growing up soooo fast. Mom even thought to take a few pictures for me to see (I have to say it was an "afterthought" so they missed some pictures) but nevertheless I did receive a few of them. Thanks Everyone for giving Rhaeden a Birthday that I couldn't this year !!!

He wouldn't let anyone eat his name until after I saw it !! Isn't that sweet !!!

I started this post last week...so now this week...I have everyone in school at work. Mike and Rhaeden still hasn't come down with the flu and HOPEFULLY they won't. I can only pray that has been put behind us !!! I should have bought stock in Lysol and Clorox as much as I have used in the last two weeks. Two weeks of having the flu in your house depletes the ozone layer just a little bit !!!

Rhaeden has won all of his regular season football games. They are the only undefeated team in the league. This Saturday they start the Play-offs. When we win the next two games we will be in the Super Bowl !! Isn't that just sooo exciting ???

Maegen had gymnastics yesterday and said she did fine. She has a lot of homework to catch up on and that's what we have been doing every night. It amazes me how much homework kids have these days. Why is that ?

D'Nae didn't have to run district cross-country on Monday (she really didn't want too anyway) because of missing all last week. She is just about caught up on all of her homework that she missed. I think she still has one College Algebra test to take and I think she will be caught back up. She has a wisdom tooth that has been bothering her for about the last 3 weeks or so. The Dentist says he won't mess with it until AFTER basketball season. Ya see, his son is D'Nae's basketball coach and he doesn't want to mess up the season (nice way to care for your patients huh). The dentist has been in contact with D'Nae's orthodontist so that we can hopefully avoid messing up her teeth again, but..says because of the way the wisdom tooth is, it will not be an easy procedure. Time will tell how long she tolerates the pain.

I guess I better get back to work because I am soooo far behind. It is amazing how far behind in work you get when you miss a week and then have to be available when you have two kids at home sick.

Take care and I hope everyone stays well and healthy !!!
