SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT !!!

Okay...I know it has been an EXTREMELY long time since I blogged....BUT...in my own defense I told you that it would probably be after April 15th..actually I'm a few days early !!!

I don't even know where to begin. It will probably take me a few posts to get back into the swing of things and to get everything covered that has happened.

Basketball...D'Nae won the last game of District to become the Out-right District Champions only to have the title stripped from them because of an UIL violation. Apparently they changed the number of games allowed this year and our coaches didn't catch that we played ONE to MANY games..but another wonderful coach in our District did and protested with the UIL. So we ended up forfeiting the last District game and went into the play-offs as the # 2 seed instead of the first seed. They won the bi-district game against Robert Lee in Forsan. They won the Area game against Benjamin in Merkel. They lost the Quarterfinal game against Paducah (I heard family in Childress were able to listen to the game) by 2 points 49-47 !!! It was a disappointing way to end the season. They played a TERRIBLE first quarter. The nerves just got the best of them.

District Champs BEFORE the protest and eventual "forfeit" !!

Bi-District Champions !!!

Area Champions !!

Little Dribblers...Rhaeden and Maegen played little Dribblers. Their season didn't last very long. The coach that normally gets everything planned and going in January had changed schools so the ball was dropped. One of our coaches finally got it rolling ONLY to have it cut short because of all the other activities that are going on this time of year. Rhaeden was able to play 3 games and was undefeated. Maegen played 2 games and was 1-1. Rhaeden was disappointed he didn't get to play more. Maegen was just there to have fun and see her friends. It was very fun to watch.

Not sure who is guarding whom ??

Maegen and her best friend Kaitlyn

Golf--D'Nae decided this year she would play golf. Now the only golf club she has ever touched is at putt-putt but I said whatever. She played in one tournament and practiced I think once. She got sick with the flu and strep throat and missed another tournament then had to play district. Well.....the team qualified for Regionals and her score was not the one that was dropped. Amazing if you ask me. They will have Regionals I believe Monday and Tuesday the 20th and 21st I think.

One Act Play--D'Nae is in the OAP again this year (she is quite the drama queen sometimes) anyway they advanced from Zone and she was awarded Best Actress. At District they advanced and she was awarded All-Star Cast. At Area Saturday the 11th they advanced and she was awarded Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. They will perform at Regionals on Saturday the 25th.

UIL--D'Nae does Prose Interpretation and Literary Criticism. At District in Prose Interpretation she was 3rd and will Advance to Regionals. In Literary Criticism she was 1st and will advance to Regionals. Regionals are the 24th and 25th.

Track--The District Track Meet was last Thursday the 9th and we had 50-60mph winds and as you can imagine blowing DIRT !!!! A TERRIBLE day for a track meet not to mention the District track meet. Anyway, she runs the first leg on the 400 meter relay and they placed 5th in the finals. The 800 Meter Relay placed 3rd and she runs the first leg. The Mile Relay placed 4th and she runs the last leg. The 800 and the Mile Relay advanced to Area and that will be Friday the 17th. She also competes in the Pole Vault. This is what I was nervous about ALL morning long. If they were vaulting in the wind I didn't want to know about it. But...she called around lunch time and told me that she had scratched because she didn't have a death wish. All I could say was THANK YOU !! I know she was disappointed by not getting to compete but I was truly thankful that she didn't compete.

Baseball--Rhaeden is playing baseball and I think our first game is the 20th. We have been practicing 2 hours a day. He needs a new glove because he has outgrown the one from last year. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a left-handed glove ? It is not the easiest thing to find and there has to be several left handed kids that play baseball. You would think they would order more left handed gloves..or it may be the fact that I wait until the last minute after the season already starts before I start looking for one. Either way it is still difficult to find !!

Gymnastics--Maegen is still in gymnastics on Monday afternoon and seems to be enjoying it. You can tell she has learned a lot and her coordination is improving GREATLY !!! She practices all over the house and I have even caught her "tumbling" on the beds...Not a good idea when you get caught.

Mike and I had our Wedding Anniversay last Friday the 10th. We are planning a trip to Ruidoso this weekend. Hopefully it will be a relaxing stress free weekend.

Mike had his 41st birthday Easter Sunday. I didn't make him a "birthday cake" so to speak. With it being Easter I figured plenty of sweets would be around. At the Bland Easter I put a candle on a piece of pie and we all sang happy birthday to him. At mom and dads I put another candle on a piece of cake and we sang happy birthday to him again. So basically instead of just having a cake (which we ended up bringing home from mom and dads) he had pie, cake, dumplins, brownies and a chocolate pudding desert.

Bland Easter--Everyone was able to be together except for LaRinda and Shawn. LaRinda's grandmother died that morning so they stayed with her family. Our sympathies go out to LaRinda, Shawn and the entire Ledbetter family. Food, Easter Egg hunt, birthday pie, and more food was had by all.

Johnson Easter--Larry, Justin and Jeye wasn't able to be with us. It started to rain (which from what I understand it will rain for the next 5 Sundays) so we had to hide the hard boiled eggs in the house because the dye was coming off in the rain. But the candy filled eggs were hidden outside. We let the kids find them first then come into the house and find the other ones.

Okay..I guess I have bored everyone to tears....I will try not to be so long in between posts and maybe wipe the dust off of my camera and get to taking some more pics !!!
